Biography

Denis Darpy  is Professor of Management at Université Paris Dauphine–PSL, holds a PhD in Management from Université Paris Dauphine (1999) and the French Agrégation in Management Sciences (2003). He is a researcher at Dauphine Recherches en Management (DRM – CNRS UMR 7088), where his work explores consumer behavior, decision-making biases, and the interactions between individuals, society and markets.

After ten years in the technology industry with Microsoft Corporation (Seattle), Lotus Development and Tektronix, he moved into academia, combining research, academic leadership and international cooperation. From 2016 to 2020, he headed the Graduate School of Organization Sciences at Université Paris Dauphine–PSL, overseeing Master's programmes representing nearly half of the university's student population. He also developed numerous academic partnerships across Asia, North Africa and the Middle East.

From 2020 to 2024, he served as President of the Université Française d'Égypte, leading its strategic transformation through financial recovery, organizational reform, research development, academic growth and the launch of a new campus. This experience strengthened his commitment to international higher education, scientific diplomacy and public policy.

Author and co-author of books and academic articles, and former academic series editor at EMS Editions, he currently develops two main research streams. The first investigates the history of the software industry, with a particular focus on software localization as a driver of international expansion and technological sovereignty. The second examines the relationship between individual freedom, sovereignty and the ecological transition. His work advocates a liberal approach that seeks to reconcile environmental sustainability with individual choice, contributing to both academic debate and public policy.
